Establishing a sustainable community of care in Central Mississippi

The University of Mississippi Medical Center aimed to improve linkage and retention in care of individuals experiencing difficulties in achieving viral suppression.

Through a series of targeted and evidence-based interventions, the project addressed individual and structural barriers to care.

CENTRALIZE ACCESS TO HIV CARE FOR PATIENTS IN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

  • Established a central physical point of contact for individuals with HIV

  • Centralized and standardized CAREWare access across partnering organizations

  • Implemented low-barrier, incentivized care model for HIV care within clinics for individuals who are not virologically suppressed

  • Established new and reinforce existing relationships among local organizations

  • Established culture of monitoring and evaluation within HIV care community in Central Mississippi

  • Conducted cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis of low-barrier, incentivized care model

Ben Brock

Ben Brock, MD.

James "Ben" Brock, MD, MS is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  Dr. Brock joined the faculty in 2015 and has a focus in HIV/STD.  He is the director of UMMC's adult HIV program, including the Adult Special Care Clinic, Express Personal Health Clinic, and the MS site for the Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center.
